What we analyze in a typical day

On February 2 we tested 71 drug samples at Get Your Drugs Tested. The number of people accessing our service continues to grow, and honestly we are having a hard time keeping up with demand!

Here is a summary of what we tested on Thursday, February 2, a typical day for us at Get Your Drugs Tested.

(Note that when we say “a sample of” a certain drug, that means this is what the person who brought the sample to us believed it to be. In some cases, a “sample” of a drug may turn out to be something else entirely.)

FIFTEEN SAMPLES OF COCAINE

In 13 samples we couldn’t detect anything other than cocaine. One sample was about 80% cocaine but had been cut with about 20% procaine. One sample was about 35% cocaine and about 50% inositol,  with about 15% being something we couldn’t identify. Fentanyl detection strips showed negative in every sample.

TWELVE SAMPLES OF MDMA

In 7 samples we couldn’t detect anything other than MDMA. One sample was half MDA and half ketamine. One sample was just sugar. Two samples were just water and food coloring. One sample was about 85% MDMA and about 15% filler of sucrose and dimethyl sulfone. One additional sample was a capsule which been sold as a MDA/MDMA combo, and it tested as being about 50% MDMA and about 20% MDA, with the rest appearing to be a neutral filler. Fentanyl detection strips showed negative in every sample.

SIX SAMPLES OF KETAMINE

In 5 samples we couldn’t detect anything other than ketamine. In one sample we found it was about 90% ketamine and 10% another substance which we could not identify. Fentanyl and benzo detection strips showed negative in every sample.

TWO SAMPLES OF 2C-B

This chemical is a psychedelic phenethylamine. One tested as about 90% 2C-B and 10% an uncertain match which seemed to be other compounds related to 2C-B. The other sample tested as about 30% 2C-B and about 60% cellulose.

ONE SAMPLE OF 2C-I

This is psychedelic phenethylamine which is similar to 2C-B. This sample tested as about 45% 2C-I and 55% 2C-B.

ONE SAMPLE OF LSD

We cannot ascertain the potency of LSD blotter tabs, but we use a test strip which did show positive for lysergamide.

TWO SAMPLES OF METHAMPHETAMINE

Both samples showed nothing except for methamphetamine. Fentanyl and benzo detection strips showed negative.

THREE SAMPLES OF FENTANYL

Two samples were about 85% fentanyl and 15% filler. One sample was about 50% fentanyl, 30% erythritol and 20% caffeine.

SIX SAMPLES OF DOWN.

“Down” is the street name for a pain relieving, sedative drug. This used to mean heroin, but now “down” is usually expected to be fentanyl, and often also contains benzodiazapenes. Five of the six samples we analyzed tested positive for benzos. All six samples tested positive for fentanyl; one showed under 5% and the other five samples were in the 25-35% range. All six samples also contained between 30-50% caffeine. Common cuts included erythritol and mannitol, two sugars.

ONE SAMPLE GHB LIQUID.

We could not detect anything active in this sample.

ONE SAMPLE OF PREGABALIN

We only found pregabalin in this sample.

THREE SAMPLES OF BROMAZOLAM

Bromazolam is a form of benzodiazopene. One sample showed only Bromazolam. The other sample we found only neutral filler, but the test strip showed the presence of an unidentified benzodiazapene.

ONE SAMPLE OF HYDROCODONE

Analysis revealed there was no hydrocodone in this sample. It was about 80% acetaminophen and about 20% filler carbohydrates. Fentanyl and benzo detection strips negative.

ONE SAMPLE  OF ACETAMINOPHEN AND OXYCODONE

Analysis revealed this pill sample contained only filler. We could not detect any active ingredients. Fentanyl and benzo detection strips negative.

THREE SAMPLES OF ALPRAZOLAM

One sample was 90% lactose and 10% unidentified, but tested positive for some kind of benzodiazapene on the test strip. The other two samples contained no detectable active ingredients. Being a mix of cellulose and other filler. Fentanyl detection strips negative.

ONE SAMPLE OF ETIZOLAM

This was a blotter sample so we could not perform a FTIR analysis. Fentanyl and benzo detection strips negative.”

ELEVEN UNKNOWN SAMPLES

This means that the person who brought in the sample didn’t know what it was, or wasn’t able to tell us what they thought it was for some reason. Of these, one was found to be MDMA with no detected cuts, two were ketamine, one was cocaine, one was mainly caffeine with a positive result on the fentanyl test strip. Four of these samples were a chemical called “4-Anilino-1-Boc-Piperidine” which is a chemical structurally similar to opioids and may have been the result of an unsuccessful attempt to make fentanyl. Two of these unknown samples we were not able to identify.

And that’s what we do on a typical day here at Get Your Drugs Tested!
