MAIL-IN SAMPLE PROTOCOL:

  1. Before sending any samples, you MUST email info@getyourdrugstested.com first. Please include:

    • The number of samples you wish to send
    • Your organization name (if applicable)

  2. Our team will respond to confirm:

    • Whether we currently have capacity to test your samples
    • Submission Sample #
    • The total payment required
    • Packaging instructions
    • Payment details

  3. Once confirmed, the fee is $10 per sample. Organizations involved in health or harm-reduction work may qualify for reduced fees – please mention this in your initial email.

OUR FUNDING:

Get Your Drugs Tested operates entirely through funding from The Medicinal Cannabis Dispensary and The Medicinal Mushroom Dispensary, and your donations, with no government support.

It costs us about $25 to cover all the costs of analyzing a sample, including equipment, labour and rent. This minimum $10 donation requirement helps us to offer our service to as many people as possible. Larger donations are gratefully accepted.

We appreciate your understanding as we work to maintain this vital service despite our resource limitations. By managing our testing capacity carefully, we can continue to provide accurate results for everyone who relies on our service.

PAYMENT METHODS:

Once approved, we accept three forms of payment:

EMAIL MONEY TRANSFER

  • You can send an email transfer before mailing your order.
  • Send to donations@VHRS.ca
    • Direct Deposit Activated
  • To help us track payments, please include the provided submission sample number in the memo section of your payment.

CASH DONATIONS

  • The easiest way to pay the fee is to enclose cash with the
    samples.
  • Enclose cash discreetly (Please do not use coins!)
  • Use larger denominations when possible
  • For international mail, this option is preferred.

CHEQUE

  • You can also enclose a cheque with your samples
  • Make payable to Vancouver Harm Reduction Society
  • Note: Testing may be delayed until cheque clears

Canada-wide drug analysis by mail

HOW TO SEND A SAMPLE

Please first read and understand how the test works, testing limitations and how we make it anonymous, then please follow these steps carefully.

1. MINIMUM AMOUNT OF SAMPLE TO SEND

  • Solid: 10mg (about the size of a match head, well-mixed)
  • Liquid: 1-2 mL (well-mixed) in SEALED locking container, ziplock bag is NOT acceptable (ie twist lid)
  • Pill: Ideally the whole pill or 10mg of crushed pill for best results, minimum half
  • Blotter: Quarter of a tab.

Note: We cannot analyze used supplies, food products, plant matter or other organic samples (including cannabis and mushrooms.)

We cannot return anything by mail. All samples will be destroyed after testing.

2. TRIPLE-BAGGING PROCESS

  1. Place sample in a ziplock bag – seal completely
  2. Place first bag inside second ziplock bag – seal completely
  3. Place second bag inside third ziplock bag – seal completely

    SENDING MULTIPLE SAMPLES

  1. Place ALL samples in separate ziplock bags to prevent cross-contamination
  2. Combine and place ALL sealed bags in second ziplock bag – seal completely
  3. Place second bag in third ziplock bag – seal completely
  4. If you are sending more than one sample we recommend using A, B, C, D, etc on each sample for easy identification when receiving results.

3. REQUIRED INFORMATION

Include a separate paper slip with each sample that has this information:

  1. Submission Sample Number (We will provide this to you)
  2. Substance name (or “unknown” if unsure)
  3. Has this specific sample been tried? (Yes / No / Unsure)
  4. Purchase location (city name or “anonymous”)
  5. Any unexpected effects or notes
  6. Your contact information (email and/or code word, we cannot accept phone numbers at this time)

To download a copy of our sample submission slips, use this link. Please write clearly. We recommend writing in clear capital letters. If we cannot read your writing, we may not be able to contact you.

Our technicians require this anonymous information to process your sample accurately.

You can choose any unique code word, as long as it doesn’t include personal names or inappropriate language. If the word isn’t acceptable, we’ll default to your sample submission number instead.

If you forget or you do not include any contact information, please contact us right away. Your package will be put on hold and eventually disposed of unless contact information is provided.

4. MAILING THE PACKAGE:

Contact us at info@getyourdrugstested.com to get our mailing information. Please DO NOT send your samples to any of our testing locations.

We recommend using a regular, padded envelope or padded Xpresspost envelope for mailing.

Please use Canada Post or Xpresspost. Do not use any other shipping services. Please do not select for any signature required.

Please ensure you weigh or measure your package. This will help you calculate your required postage. We reserve the right to refuse any package without adequate postage.

TESTING PROCESS

Package Retrieval
We retrieve packages on weekdays and process them in the order they arrive. You’ll receive an email from info@getyourdrugstested.com once your package is received. If you don’t hear from us, your package is likely still in transit – keep in mind provincial postal delays can drastically slow-down postal services.

Please be patient—we’ll contact you as soon as your samples arrive safely on-site.

Email Notifications
For updates on package retrieval, we recommend including your email address. Use secure email providers like ProtonMail, Mailfence or similar if you are concerned about end-to-end encryption and data privacy.

No Email?
If you prefer no contact, you may only include the provided sample submission number and unique code word with your package. Once your sample has been analyzed, you can use this to access your results in our online database.

Test Results

We will test all samples with the FTIR Spectrometer and immunoassay test strips, including fentanyl test strips. Learn more here.

Once your sample is tested, we’ll send results via your preferred contact method.

Data Privacy
We publish all test data publicly in an anonymous format. By sending in samples, participants agree to allow us to share the resulting data on our website and with our partners for transparency and public benefit.

All personal information is anonymous and confidential. We shred all documents and keep no personal records.
